Donegal Countywide Watermains Rehabilitation

On 27/07/2018, ShareRidge commenced work in Donegal on the Donegal Countywide Watermains Rehabilitation.

This Contract consists of the design, provision, construction, testing and commissioning of approximately 40km of PE100 and Ductile Iron watermain at various locations throughout County  Donegal, including all valves, fittings, anchors blocks, connections, reinstatement and ancillary works. The areas where works will be carried out include:

  • Ballybofey
  • Lifford
  • Three Trees
  • Cabry
  • Carlin
  • Doaghmore
  • Sheskinbeg
  • Derrybeg
  • Meenaleck
  • Corker
  • Abbeylands
  • Ballyshannon
  • Bundoran

The Contract includes the design, provision, installation and commissioning of new service pipes and boundary boxes. It also requires the decommissioning of replaced and otherwise redundant watermains and associated fittings, and the decommissioning of individual service pipes.

The works will be carried out while managing a number of environmental constraints which include the following:

  • The Works associated with the Contract are in close proximity to a number of European designated sites including Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs); a number of which support highly pollution-sensitive protected species including Atlantic salmon Salmo salar and Freshwater Pearl Mussel (FWPM). including Ballybofey South Backline, Doaghmore, Meenaleck to Rannafast, Bundoran West End, Carlin and Three trees.

A number of locations contain Areas of Archaeological Potential all of which will be monitored while works are carried out
